L- I agree, it’s a very weird message to tell your kids “taking care of you isn’t important”. That said, I think the underlying assumptions are *really* prevalent in our culture. I have to admit, as a kid I sometimes struggled with describing my family to others. And I know most of the time, I didn’t appreciate the sacrifices my parents made for me, including my Dad staying home.
